PopSpots is a website about those places where interesting events in the history of Pop Culture took place; primarily album cover shots, places where movies and tv shows were filmed, and sites on which paintings were based.

Many are from Manhattan, where I live. Manhattan is constantly being torn down and rebuilt anew, and I'm trying to find these places while they are still around.

Thanks for visiting.

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY PHOTOS OF GREENWICH VILLAGE

from the NYU Digital Archives, located: here.

Most of these photos are from the early to mid 1960's. The ones with the older cars are mostly from 1945.

I downloaded these in 2014 when it took a special tool to screenshot the photos. You will notice the tool called the "Navigator" in the upper right of some photos. I could only capture what was in the red box. Now you can get the whole photo. There are a lot more available photos on the site. My thanks to NYU for preserving these photos and putting them on their website for future generations to refer to.

The photos are in no particular order. They are in the order I found them. The primary streets covered are: Bleecker Street, MacDougal Street, West 3rd Street and West 8th Street.
